Three finalists whose research advances knowledge on the biology, behavior, ecology, or management of urban pest species will receive scholarships of $2,500, $1,500, and $1,000 respectively. One individual selected as the 'Young Scientist of the Year' will also receive a $10,000 grant to continue his or her research. In addition, a $1,000 scholarship will be donated to the general scholarship fund at the schools attended by each of the three finalists. A panel of university and industry professionals will determine the final awards, and the three finalists will present their research at the annual NPMA convention. The awards will be presented at PestWorld 2008 in Washington, D.C. in October 2008.
